Backyard projects

Joe has been feeling better this spring and since Shea has finished school for the summer, the two of them have been working on some backyard projects. I mentioned before that they made me a raised garden bed (above) which I love. They also recycled materials (lumber and stairs) from Doris' house to build stairs to the tree house to make it more accessible and to make decking around our fire ring. It really feels like our own yard now. We also bought a shade to put up on the back patio so Joe and can comfortably sit on the back porch in the mornings, drink our tea and enjoy the birds and cats. My part in all this has been getting them going and giving them encouragement.

Shea drilling together the pieces of the decking. The noise was not bothering Tigger's nap any.

Joe and Shea working on leveling the dirt under the decking. Doris put in a new fence this year because she is going to be getting two calves to do the lawn mowing on her 5 acres, so she let us take any of the old fencing we were willing to carry away.

Joe and Max communing in the tree house now that is more accessible for old people. It feels like sitting a forest and at night you get a great view of the fireflies.

Joe giving Shea his best advice on where and how to drill the stairs into place. Doris has these stairs removed from her house a couple of years ago when renovating her upstairs to add a second closet. They've been waiting in our backyard to be used for this project.

How Shea has spent much of his free time this summer.
