I must confess, we now have a third new kitten. This is Simba. A couple of weeks ago we thought Tigger was on his way to the great cat heaven in the sky. He was losing weight and seemed to be drinking a lot of water. I was afraid he had diabetes or kidney failure. Since I don't think a family should be without an orange tabby and since I didn't want to feel like I was replacing Tigger, we decided to go ahead and get a new kitten. We finally figured out that Tigger's problem was that Max and Willow were stealing his food. Now he eats alone and is looking pretty good for a 15 year old outdoor cat. So we may have 4 cats for longer than I thought (yes, I know Dad thinks I'm crazy). After about two weeks, the older cats have become tolerant and/or playful with Simba.

This was before relations improved.Meanwhile, Joe and I are off on a road trip to visit cemeteries, relatives (living as well as dead), Niagara Falls and Washington DC. The kids are staying home due to jobs and new kittens. (Casey also has two new kittens.) Today we drove from Richmond, KY to Medina, OH (near Akron). It was quite beautiful today and many people seemed to be heading out of town - including these motorcyclists who appear to have been in the Marine Corps at one time. You can see the blue skies and fluffy white clouds. Tomorrow we head to Corning, NY.

I thought some of you might appreciate this picture of a "basket" that is a quiver. Pretty cool, huh. He is archer and also teaches kids to do archery. Real arrows in there and completely functional. Like me, this class was the first time he did basketry.

There is a children's book, "Ginger" by Charlotte Voake; it is about an orange Tabby who learns to tolerate a new kitten. It is darling. I think you would appreciate it.
