Vacation time - Day 10 More Sheas and lots of rain

We got up early and called around to find out how to find the Sheas in St Patrick Cemetery. As has been usual on this trip people have been extremely nice and helpful. First I called St Patrick's church. She directed me to Calvary Cemetery which is the currently active cemetery. Ann at the Calvary Cemetery quickly found the correct Sheas in her files and invited me to come by and she would show me on her maps where they were located. That was interesting. She literally has rows upon rows of old fashioned file boxes - very pre-computers. After finding the graves at the cemetery, we went by the old house on 2 Bennet Avenue. The next door neighbor came out to sit on her front and told us that when she moved in about 60 years ago, two sisters lived there. That must have been not too long before Great Aunt Ellen died. The house looks nice and as if it has been refurbished on the outside anyway. After taking some pics we drove to Recreation Park. Shortly after arriving, it started to rain in ernest. I had fun taking pictures anyway and then we headed for Clifton. That was not so fun. Quite a few accidents, although most were in the other direction. We were happy to arrive safely at the hotel. Tomorrow we plan to sleep late before going to visit Dorothy and Bill. Dinner at Rutt's Hut tonight : )

My Great Grandfather Jerry E. Shea

The Shea family monument which fell over - fortunately with the name side up.

The house on 2 Bennet Ave.

"A carousel in the middle of Recreation Park once had a carving of Rod Serling's name that has since been painted over. Serling depicts a similar scenario in "The Twilight Zone: Walking Distance," which shows a young child is carving his name into a carousel modeled after the one in Recreation Park." Unfortunately it is no longer in use and the horses are all gone.

Rain pouring of the roof of the carousel.

The Binghamton court house.

One of the many accidents - this on our side of the freeway.

Rutt's Hut. On this side you stand at a counter and eat your hot dogs. This was one of Uncle Ray's favorite places to bring Eddie. Joe and I concur - the hot dogs are great.
