Shortly before school started, Casey, Matt and I took a quick trip down to Chattanooga to visit our friends - Linda, Russell, Lucy and Cora - who just moved down there from Richmond for Linda's new job at the university. I am in love, what a great little but big city, or is that a big but little city? Anyway, Chattanooga is on a river so there are lots of bridges including a wooden bridge that instead of tearing it down, they converted it to a pedestrian only bridge - fabulous. Chattanooga reminded me of Portland. Lots of water, lots of bikes and pedestrians, lots of cute little shops and great little local restaurants. A great donut shop, a great ice cream shop. Just a lot more humid. As you can see I had a hard time deciding what pictures to post. We went to the local art museum, ate at a great Italian place and had ice cream of course.
Statue in front of the art museum - lots of public art in Chattanooga too.
Big open space at the museum overlooking the river.
Cool mirror art, that's Casey in the mirrors.
Casey again making herself a part of the art.
I loved this building with the cool windows, turned out it is now a bakery. Smelled delicious.
Fountain at t he local park - the kids were really enjoying it. That is the pedestrian bridge in the background.
Always love the lions
This is the amazing bread at the Italian restaurant, garlic cloves stuffed under the crust of the bread and Parmesan cheese grated into the olive oil. The pasta was amazing as well.
I loved this piece of art. It looked vaguely peacock colored and had lots of small interesting things in the dome part. Linda on the left, Casey in the middle, Lucy on the right.
Matt and Lucy eating ice cream.
Matt and Cora eating ice cream. Matt must have had more ice cream than either of the girls.
More of the pedestrian bridge
There was also a working carousal at the park.
The Delta Queen.
The building in the middle is the Tennessee Aquarium (something to do on the next visit) and the mountain on the left if Lookout Mountain (somewhere to go after the knee is all better).
