Cork Day 1

For those of you who don't do Facebook, some photos from wandering about Cork my first day in Ireland.  I had a long journey with three plane jumps - Cincinnati to Chicago, Chicago to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Cork.  I asked for wheelchair assistance so I wouldn't blow out my knee before arrival.  It was nice to have a personal chauffeur but also meant I didn't get to see much of the airports.  I arrive at 10:30 AM Ireland time (5:30 AM Kentucky time) and pushed to stay awake until bedtime (or at least until Dad arrived).  So after checking into the hotel, I spent about 3 hours wandering around downtown Cork.  I haven't done that much walking since before I had my knee replacement.  My knee definitely was not happy with me, but I really enjoyed myself.  Dad arrive around 9:30 PM Ireland time (2:30 PM California time).  Here are some random photos around Cork.

Looking down into a part of the lobby at the hotel

That is the River Lee Hotel on the right behind the river.

I wondered if this actually decreased the amount of gum on the streets.

 Pretty colors

 Creative use of old tombstones

 Getting the laundry done.

Wasn't sure what kind of seeds they were selling.

But these students (I think) were openly smoking pot.

A small sample of the goods available in the English Market

An good old McDonald's
