Last dinner in Killorglin

For our last night out in Killorglin we went to dinner at Sol Y Sombra Tapas Restaurant.  I would highly recommend it to anyone who finds themselves in Killorglin or even Killarney.  I had never been to a Spanish restaurant or a Tapas restaurant before.  First, the restaurant itself was in a converted church - just a beautiful setting.  Next the food was very good.  Dad and I shared a pork dish and an asparagus dish.  Dad had his usual Jamison but I had a lovely Spanish Sherry.  But to top it all off, we had a coupon for a free desert.  I ordered a Crema Catalana which is a Spanish version of Creme Brulee, but this was one step beyond your average Creme Brulee or Crema Catalana.  In the bottom of the dish was a Sherry reduction, topped with cold vanilla ice cream and the completed with what the manager called Crema Catalana foam - a warm, whipped light version of Crema Catalana - with a swirl of burnt sugar on top.  I can't find the words to describe the taste, the texture and the varied textures.  The best I can say is, Dad was going to have only one bite, but ended up having six or seven spoonfuls.

One end of the dining room

The converted bar and kitchen in the background

The pretty stained glass at the other end of the dining room

This is all that was left of my dinner

Crema Catalana - it tasted even better than it looks

Okay - so I'm an occupational therapist - this was the best adapted restroom I have ever seen, there is even a back rest

I have never seen bars at the sink so the person in a wheelchair can pull to stand

Looking back at the restaurant after dinner and night fall.
