Shea and I went hiking last Sunday on the Berea Forest Trail. Although the flowers are purple, these trees that were all in bloom are called "Red Buds" The day was gorgeous - perfect hiking weather and we ran into one of my students as we came back down the trail. It was fun to hear "Is that Dr. Thompson I see?" come floating up to me. Casey can't wait to join us. We are going to try to hike most weekends once she gets here. Back in Berea all the tulips were in bloom. I hope the tulips hang in there long enough for Dawn and Demelza to see when they come to visit next week. They will be here Easter Sunday and stay for a week. Demelza will be celebrating her 14th birthday - hard to imagine. Time goes by so fast!

Shea and I were tickled to be able to catch these butterflies, hmmm, procreating, so they were still for long periods of time allowing for close up photos. If you look to the bottom right of this butterfly, you will see it's partner hanging below.

At the end of the trail, there were wonderful views of the Kentucky River. We also spent a long time up close and personal with a flock of turkey buzzards enjoying the breezes, but couldn't really get a close enough, in focus picture to show for it.
