Norton Simon and Freeways

On Saturday - the last real day of my vacation - I headed out to the Norton Simon Museum after a lovely breakfast of French toast, powdered sugar and blueberries prepared by Deni. I like the Norton Simon - a smallish museum done well. Every January 1 growing up I would see the outside of it as the Rose Parade went by. It isn't too kid friendly, but I guess now my kids are older, I can forgive them for yelling at my kids for running around the front lawn. They have a huge collection of Degas statues and a beautiful lily pond with their own mating mallards. I also spent an extreme amount of time on the freeways. I'm very spoiled living in Kentucky and especially Richmond, but the LA freeways can be nostalgic and interesting if you only drive on them once every couple of years.

Autos in a building.

The L.A. Philharmonic large and live on the side of some buildings.

Even in Pasadena you can find a little bit of Kentucky.

The lilies are just about to burst into bloom.

I loved the delicate hands on the Asian art.

This painting and collar are beautiful but scary. I can't imagine having to wear something like this.
One of the Degas that is not a ballet dancer.
