I had an unexpected opportunity to go to California for several days. My wonderful co-workers were very supportive and helped make it possible for me to go. Unfortunately for me (I HATE flying), it was snowing the evening I left. That's little plane I had to ride in to Atlanta, GA (where I got to change to a real plane) and it required de-icing before we could take off (an hour delay). We also had another delay getting out of Atlanta because they forgot to put drinking water on the plane and we had to return to the gate for it. As you can see, it was all worth it to see such a beautiful, sunny and clear day when I got up. I headed off with my only goal to eat some favorites not available in Kentucky. I ended up going to take pictures at the Malga Cove Library, to Downtown Disney for some shopping, back up to Palos Verdes to take pictures of the
Wayfayer's Chapel, designed by Lloyd Wright, son of the pioneering American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and watched a beautiful sunset.

The view from the P.V. hill of Torrance Beach.

The magnolia "bushes" were in full bloom everywhere. This one was outside the Malaga Cove Library, but my dad's bush was equally magnificent.

I had to stop at Rite Aid and get some Chocolate Malted Crunch ice cream made by Thrifty's. When were kids it was 5 cents a scoop, best ice cream around and the cheapest.

The LEGO store at Downtown Disney is quite impressive. The Darth Vader is probably 6 feet tall, you can see the giraffe in the background.

For of those of you who don't live in Southern California, that is Santa
Catalina Island in the background. It is a rare day that you get such a clear view of the whole island.

"Don't even think about it!" Is that where you got that? You sure said it enough when we were growing up :P
I think that sign is a little more recent than that. I probably got it from Nana.
