Winding down the semester

One more week of classes and finals week and then the semester is done! Hallelujah.  I was realizing how long it has been since I blogged.  Here are some odds and ends from the last couple of months.

Made sugar cookies and went a little overboard with the decorating, before the oven

Visited the Cincinnati art museum with my ceramics class - this was part of a special exhibit related to African American art.

After spending a semester in ceramics - I just really love to see a well crafted vase.

 Pretty decoration.

Ate the Rookwood Bar and Restaurant which used to be the Rookwood factory and you can sit inside one the former kilns.  To have an idea of how huge they are, there is a round table for 6 inside here.

After the art museum and lunch we toured the Rookwood Pottery Company which has a long history in Cincinnati.

Tile of a cardinal at Rookwood.

We also had an art show and reception for the art and photos done by the Honors students who went to NYC with me this last January.  A couple of our students played classical music for us during the reception.

One student did an art piece inspired by Jackson Pollock

"Handicapped" Barbies - the one on the left has a hearing aide and the one on the right has a lower extremity amputation/prosthetic.  This was the art project of another student.
