Storms in Kentucky

As you may know, Casey went to London and Dublin last winter. She was suppose to be there to take a history class. I do think they did try to get in a few hours a day with the professor, Dr. William Mulligan (can you tell he's of Irish descent?). One of the students was given a video cam and $1000 scholarship for which he had to do a "video blog". Last weekend Dr. Mulligan invited the students from the class to come to his house to view the finished product - you can see it in pieces on You Tube all TheDJstory clips. Dr. M made us Irish dinner and provided Irish drinks. This is all a back story as to why Casey and I drove 5 hours to Murray, Kentucky on the weekend of one of the worst rain storms in Kentucky Derby history (yes, you must mention The Derby). The local counties had over 7 inches of rain on Saturday and Sunday. Casey and I did not allow the pounding rain, lightning, thunder and tornado warnings to stop us from exploring the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area on Saturday. (The LBL is currently closed to boating due to record high water levels expect by tomorrow due to all the rain.) On arriving home in the continued pounding rain on Sunday, Shea informed us EKU students were swimming in the ravine - an outdoor ampitheatre at EKU which normally does not have any water in it, let alone enough to swim in.
