Craziness in the Fall

I guess we all get a little crazy when the weather starts to cool down and autumn seems to really be here - so we were doing some yard work and decided to top off a ver r r y tall pear tree in our backyard. It is so tall, you can't get to the pears, so we have to wait for them to fall and then half the time they have already been snacked on by the squirrels or the birds or who know what. Then I did an even crazier thing and volunteered to drive 6 college girls from Richmond, KY to New Haven, CT for a conference. I did have help with the driving from Doris, but it was a 13 hour drive. Of some consolation, the scenery was beautiful, which was the idea of having a conference in New England in the fall. Yale is amazing, I can see why students would be drawn to attend school there. Finally, this week I voluntarily spent the day with high school students at a health career fair in Harlan, KY. That is 2 and 1/2 hours away, so Joe and I drove down the night before and spent a little get away time at the Holiday Inn there - great hot breakfast in the morning and really nice kids at the health fair.

This is a four storey tall piece of guaze with dried flowers attached hanging in the lobby of the Yale Center for British Art. It was part of a special exhibit of Mary Delany's work. We weren't allowed to take pictures of her incredible flower collages - which doesn't begin to describe her art work.

A fancy shot of the guaze.

You're not going to post a picture of Shea's stitches?
