Anglin Falls

Shea and I headed out for another weekend hike despite the rainy, drizzly, foggy weather. This little gem of a hike is tucked away in the middle of farm land. Anglin Falls is a feature of the John B. Stephenson (a former president of Berea College) Memorial Forest State Nature Preserve. http://www.naturepreserves.ky.gov/stewardship/jbstephenson.htm The above sign is the only indication that you are in the right place until you get to the trail head and the parking is just a wide spot in the gravel road. When we reached the falls and had taken some pictures, another photographer showed up. He had been to the falls many times and show us where we could do some adventurous hiking to see two more small falls and get behind Anglin Falls. He even gave us a boost up the rocks we had to climb onto to get there. We spent a couple of hours climbing around and taking photos and getting thoroughly wet and muddy - all good fun.

The llamas were hanging out at the farm right next to the small parking area.

Shea taking off ahead of me as usual.

These pretty flowers intriqued Shea and I as there seemed to be two kinds on one plant. We finally figured out that the flowers were white when they bloomed and then turned purple as they faded off.

These seemed very similar to the violets all over our backyard.

I took this picture laying down shooting over the edge of large rock. I was surprized to see the leaf under the water on the right side of the photo.

A pretty shot of Anglin Falls.

I took this picture of Shea from behind Anglin Falls. He was taking pictures of me (taking pictures of him) from the front side of the falls and found out that mossy, wet rocks are slippery when he tried to boost himself up on the rock in front of him to get a better shot.
