Murano

Murano is a small island off of Venice.  It used to be the home of many Catholic convents.  Now it is renowned for its glass blowing techniques which are handed down through the generations.  I went to a glass blowing demonstration and spent two half days taking pictures.  Honestly, the glass blowing demonstration was better at the Corning factory in New York, but it was worth seeing Murano and wandering around the island.

Glass blowing is dangerous and not for the faint of heart.

 Perfecting his vase.
What else would have on an island famous for glass blowing?

  A store front

Playing Star Wars and other popular music on water glasses.

 Just pretty

 Detail on a gate

 Cool art

Lots of these mosaics around town.

Clever use of old detergent bottles

Pretty approach to sunset.
