Flutterbys

Casey and I drove out to Cincinnati to see the end of the International Butterfly Show at the Krohn Conservatory.  As it was the second to last day and they had held it over for 2 weeks, the butterflies were not plentiful and many of them looked a bit ragged.  We still had fun, especially in the kids crafts area.

The children were quite tickled when the managed to get a butterfly to stay with them.  This one was originally 'caught' by an adult who was nice enough to pass it along to this little girl.

They are big on recycling, this very large butterfly was made from old CDs

They gave us all these little paper flowers to have the butterflies land on.  I'm sure it was just to keep the kids from grabbing the butterflies as Casey patiently sat for at least 30 minutes and no butterfly came near the paper flowers.  She did manage to get one onto the paper flower by sliding it under a butterfly that had landed on a plant near by.

These brothers in their matching shirts were too cute.

There were musicians who sat near a door with air conditioning flowing through (the rest of the room was warm and humid) and these particular butterflies - the Blue Morpho - liked the cold air and would hang out with the musicians.

 Doing crafts.

The Conservatory also had beautiful orchids...

 ...and cactus

 A butterfly bench

If you look closely you will see all the recycled material on this piece of art - CDs, coat hangers and plastic bottles.
