Pops at the Park

Last night we attended Pops in the Park for the third year - truly the end of summer as the fall semester begins tomorrow. Linda, Lucy and Cora joined us as did Matt (OUR new boyfriend as I like to joke). I love Pops because among other things, they have lots of people to help you carry your picnic stuff from your car to your chosen spot on the lawn. I always see people I know including students and faculty and friends from church. You also get to wander around White Hall and Cora, Lucy and Mary Alice and Bethany (two of my students) got to tell me ghost stories. Matt plays the tuba and enjoyed the symphony orchestra on a whole different level than the rest of us. Lucy and Shea played games, Casey, Lucy and Cora decorated horse shoes, Joe tried to stay cool, Cora and I took pictures, Casey, Cora and I danced and at the end of the evening most everyone got involved in taking slow exposure pictures using the light sticks. They end the Pops with fireworks and John Philip Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever...and then summer ended.

Casey and Cora (always the clown).

Lucy and Shea playing mancala

Some people decorate. The artist of this master piece said it took him two weeks to complete. I assume the cans were empty as I did not see a crane bring it in.

Cora took this pic also. She likes taking pictures almost as much as I do.

Casey and Matt. Matt was pretty tired after spending the day at Marching Band practice in the heat and humidity.

Casey making a peace sign.

Cora making a heart.

Fireworks.
