I surely can't decide which is more beautiful, Kentucky in the fall or in the spring. Right now fall is winning. Two weekends ago Casey and I went hiking in Berea at the Pinnacles. Joe can't hike until he has his hip fixed and Shea wanted to watch a football game - must have been a big one. So Casey and I headed out and first thing we ran into Cora and Lucy who Casey babysits for...they adore Casey, especially Cora (the blond in the middle in the pic above). I always seem to run into people I know at the Pinnacles - the first time I hiked there with Shea I ran into a student of mine. Anyway, the leaves were so gorgeous, I had trouble limiting the photos I posted to the ones here. Hiking through leaves is incredibly noisy and a bit dangerous at times since you can't tell what's under them on the path. We stayed long enough the sun was starting to go down and set the leaves on fire with light. We also saw stick bugs twice (see the photo below). They so blend into the scenery, you only spot them when they move.
