Chattanooga - Ruby Falls

I am taking a 2 week vacation over the time of my wedding anniversary and my birthday and have wanted to go see Ruby Falls inside Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee for several years now.  My friend Linda Frost moved to Chattanooga and when visiting her, I really fell in love with Chattanooga, a smaller and southern version of Portland, Oregon.  Ruby Falls was totally worth seeing despite the potential for claustrophobia and a few bumps on the head (well mostly Joe's head).  In the evening we took the River Gorge Explorer, a boat ride on the Tennessee River.  Relaxing and beautiful scenery in a "climate controlled" boat - important when it is 111 degrees outside.

 Stalactites

Cave formations that look like ...fish.

...tobacco (lit with a green light)

 ...bacon

...western sunset (also lit with artificial light)

Joe at the bottom of the falls.

Ceiling formation from eons of dripping water.

Top of Ruby Falls (named after the wife of the man who discovered the falls)

 Heron in flight

 Lookout Mountain from the boat

 The sun coming out.

 Nice mansion along the river.

Looking back down the river.
