Last Saturday I took a break from Dissertation work by going out to dinner with the women of the Source - my Kentucky women's group. (When I lived in California, I had a women's group called the Improv, both of these groups are the creation of my friend Doris, who loves to gather interesting women together). The Source went to dinner at Elvira's, an Italian restaurant in town. Doris had arranged with the owner for us to come in an hour before Elvira closed to start wtih appetizers. After the restaraunt closed, we went into the kitchen and got a demonstration on making handmade Spinach and cheese ravioli's from fresh pasta, hand rolled through a pasta press. We later got to eat those raviolis. The owner broke out the homemake wine to have with dinner and dessert was Amarretto Tiramasue cake. Before, during and after dinner, we had live guitar music. Several of the women are from the dance department at Eastern, so there was dancing about the restaraunt after dinner, accompanied by the guitarist. A great time was had by all. Prior to dinner I needed to get some exercise, so I could enjoy the carbs, and Shea came with me for a walk in the neighborhood in the freezing rain we were having Saturday evening. The Source women were impressed that my almost 20 year old son was sweet enough to take a walk with me so I didn't have to walk alone in the dark... :)
Monday night it snowed for the first time this winter. These are a few pictures of the leftover snow the next morning on the lawn and on our rooftop.
